News Bites! Hungry, War Machines and a Trial Out of Order
Netflix is heading back to the courtroom with a television adaptation of the acclaimed 1979 legal drama And Justice for All. The original film, directed by Norman Jewison and starring Al Pacino at the height of his powers, was both a critical and commercial success, earning more than $33 million at the domestic box office and securing two Academy Award nominations, including one for Pacino’s electrifying performance. The film remains best remembered for its blistering courtroom climax and the unforgettable outburst, “You’re out of order! You’re out of order! The whole trial is out of order!”, a scene that has become one of the most iconic moments in legal drama history. More than four decades later, Netflix is looking to revisit the story’s themes of justice, corruption, and moral compromise for a modern audience.

The streaming giant’s new interpretation is described as a gritty character-driven series centred on an idealistic attorney whose belief in the legal system is gradually eroded by the corruption surrounding him. As he battles unethical judges, flawed institutions, and impossible moral choices, the pressure begins to take a devastating toll, pushing him towards a breaking point. Steering the project are Jeremy Miller and Dan Cohn, executive producers on Netflix’s successful legal drama The Lincoln Lawyer, who will serve as writers and executive producers. Their involvement suggests that the series will blend compelling courtroom drama with long-form character development, potentially transforming the film’s powerful central premise into a multi-season exploration of justice, power, and personal collapse.

Netflix is moving ahead with a sequel to War Machine, the sci-fi action thriller that has become the streaming service’s biggest film success of 2026. Following the strong audience response to the original movie, and you can hear my own positive take on a recent Projector Room show, filmmaker Patrick Hughes is set to return to write and direct the follow-up, ensuring continuity for the franchise as it expands beyond its explosive first chapter. While an official casting announcement has yet to be made, star Alan Ritchson is widely expected to reprise his role as the battle-hardened Army Ranger caught in a deadly confrontation with an unknown extraterrestrial threat. Given the first film’s success and the central role his character played in the story, many fans will be eager to see Ritchson return to the front lines for another high-stakes mission.

The sequel appears poised to build upon the larger mythology teased during the closing moments of the original film. While War Machine initially focused on a survival scenario involving Ritchson’s Ranger training squad and a seemingly unstoppable alien killing machine, the ending suggested that the threat was only the beginning of a much wider conflict. Hints of a larger invasion and the existence of additional extraterrestrial war machines left the door wide open for a bigger, more ambitious sequel. With Hughes back at the helm, the next chapter could move beyond isolated encounters and into full-scale warfare between humanity and the mysterious alien forces lurking in the shadows, raising the stakes considerably for both the characters and the franchise as a whole.
