News Bites! High Rise Action, Garden Horror and Dead Nazis

Horror, action, and wartime suspense are colliding in a fresh wave of movie news, with three standout projects already generating serious buzz. Rising genre-favorite Kyle Gallner and Raul Castillo have officially joined Alexandra Daddario in the upcoming horror-thriller Inground, a slow-burn chiller that turns suburban normality into nightmare fuel. The story centres on a recently divorced father attempting to reconnect with his young son by building a backyard swimming pool, an innocent summer project that quickly spirals into something far more sinister. With Aaron Katz directing and backing from Scott Free Productions, founded by Ridley Scott, this one has all the ingredients of a creeping, character-driven horror that could linger long after the credits roll.

Meanwhile, on the action front, Patrick Hughes is set to helm an adaptation of High Rise by Gabriel Bergmoser, promising a brutal, claustrophobic ride pitched as Die Hard meets The Raid. The film follows a rogue ex-cop storming a decaying tower block to rescue his estranged daughter, only to find himself trapped in a deadly gauntlet as the criminal underworld closes in with a bounty on his head. With Bergmoser adapting his own novel, expect the grit and intensity to remain intact as the action unfolds floor by floor.

Over on Netflix, Carry On and The Shallows director Jaume Collet-Serra’s wartime thriller Play Dead has found its streaming home, starring Noah Jupe as a traumatised World War II soldier stranded behind enemy lines after a brutal ambush. Forced to survive by playing dead as Nazi troops circle ever closer, the film leans into pure, nerve-shredding suspense, Collet-Serra has proven he can execute with precision.
