Vampirologist by MurderNextDoor
If you’re a fan of atmospheric vampire fiction rather than horror-comedy or outright gore, Vampirologist is a promising new independent audio drama. Created by MurderNextDoor, the series follows the exploits of a vampirologist, someone who studies vampires, as they become embroiled in mysteries involving the undead. Rather than presenting vampires as simple monsters, the show leans into gothic storytelling, folklore, mystery, and dry humour, creating a tone that’s somewhere between classic vampire literature and modern audio drama.
The podcast launched in June 2026 and, at the time of writing, is still in its early stages, with only a handful of episodes released. It’s distributed through the main podcast platforms, including Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and has been indexed by podcast directories such as Podnews and Podstatus, making it easy to follow as new episodes arrive.
One extra reason to tune in is that I was fortunate enough to be invited to contribute to a couple of the upcoming episodes. I won’t spoil exactly how or where I appear, but it was great fun being involved with the production, and I’m excited for listeners to hear what’s coming later in the series.
If you’re searching for a new horror podcast with plenty of atmosphere, engaging characters and a healthy appreciation for vampire folklore, Vampirologist deserves a place in your listening queue. Whether you’re a lifelong horror fan or simply looking for something a little different from the usual true crime offerings, this is a promising new series that’s definitely worth checking out.
