Release Note – An episode plagued by technical issues Ted and Gareth manage to pull together a listenable show. A bug in the latest Windows update shows Gareth’s source recording device as his main microphone, however, little does he know that Windows is quietly using the feed from his webcam instead. This is particularly noticeable in the last 15 minutes following Ted’s “out of hard disk” error that forced a cut in the recording. Prior to this the audio is the more usable feed recorded at Ted’s end, however, this recording did not continue following the error, forcing Gareth to use the poorer quality recording from the webcam.

Undeterred, Gareth and Ted release the podcast, warts and all for you to endure. (It’s not the worst…)

One of the biggest frustrations I find with headsets of any type (particularly wired though) for making calls/zoom etc is that while they may support noise cancelling for the audio you are listening to, the quality of the microphones for making calls is hopeless due to background noise. Interesting to see that Asus has just released this dongle to address the issue… albeit for 3.5mm headsets only. I think this will be more useful for phone users than laptops, though I do note that Asus is pushing PC gaming and console gaming scenarios too.
