Scuba diver exploring plane wreckage

Not much is know about this image of a scuba diver face to face with the wreck of a plane. The aircraft is said to be a twin-engine propeller transport, very likely a Douglas DC-3/C-47 Skytrain or a closely related type based on the shape of the nose, cockpit windows, and engine nacelle. The image is almost certainly a modern underwater photograph converted to black and white, rather than a vintage photograph as diver’s equipment looks contemporary. There is a faint photographer’s watermark in the lower-left corner, but the resolution is too low for me to read it reliably.

I wasn’t able to verify the exact original source from the image alone. However, similar versions of this photograph have circulated online for years in diving and aviation groups, often without attribution. In discussions about the image, several people have suggested it was taken around 2015 and that a colour version also exists. The identity of the scuba diver is unknown.
