“Momma Needs Her Guns!” Adria Arjona Wages War in A24’s Onslaught.
A24 has unleashed the first trailer for Onslaught, the latest genre-bending spectacle from director Adam Wingard and writer Simon Barrett, marking the long-awaited reunion of the creative duo behind 2014 cult favorite The Guest. Described as a wild mash-up of “Sarah Connor versus Jason Voorhees,” the film looks set to deliver an explosive blend of sci-fi action, horror, and darkly comic mayhem. The story follows a determined mother living in a remote trailer park who finds herself on the front line when a squad of genetically engineered super soldiers escapes from a secret military facility and begins carving a path of destruction through the desert. The trailer wastes no time showcasing its over-the-top tone, complete with sinister government conspiracies, heavily armed killers, and a memorable rallying cry: “Go to your room, get under your bed. Momma needs to get her guns!”
Leading the charge is Andor and the best thing about Hit Man breakout star Adria Arjona, who plays a highly skilled Army sniper forced into a desperate battle to protect her young daughter from the relentless superhuman threat. Joining her is an impressive supporting cast that includes Dan Stevens, reuniting with Wingard and Barrett after The Guest, alongside Rebecca Hall, Michael Biehn, Eric Wareheim, Reginald VelJohnson, Drew Starkey, and MMA champion Alex Pereira. Wingard, whose filmography spans You’re Next, Blair Witch, Godzilla vs. Kong, and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, appears to be returning to his genre roots with a film packed with practical carnage, high-octane action and thrills. Written by Simon Barrett from a story developed with Wingard, Onslaught is shaping up to be one of the most exciting action-horror offerings of 2026 when it storms into theatres on September 4.
