A24 Fires Up the Texas Chainsaw Again
A24 is continuing its expansion of the The Texas Chainsaw Massacre universe, with a new feature film now in development alongside the previously announced TV series. According to Variety, filmmaker Curry Barker (Obsession, Milk & Serial) has been tapped to direct the project, which is being positioned as a fresh reimagining of the long-running horror franchise.

Plot details are firmly under wraps, including Barker’s take on iconic killer Leatherface, but the studio has assembled a seasoned production team. Roy Lee and Steven Schneider will produce for Spooky Pictures, joined by Stuart Manashil and Exurbia Films’ Pat Cassidy, Ian Henkel, and Kim Henkel, with Ben Ross serving as executive producer.

The reboot follows A24’s successful bid for the franchise rights earlier this year, which also covers a Texas Chainsaw Massacre television series led by JT Mollner and executive produced by Glen Powell. Speaking previously, Kim Henkel praised A24’s appetite for boundary-pushing genre work, suggesting the team is well placed to unlock a bold, unexpected new chapter in the Chainsaw mythology.
