News Bites! Some Raimi Magic, Vegas for Paul and Baldwin

Director Sam Raimi is set to bring his signature blend of tension and terror to a remake of the 1978 cult horror classic, Magic. This project serves as a cinematic reunion for Raimi and screenwriters Mark Swift and Damian Shannon, who recently penned his survival thriller Send Help. The original psychological thriller, masterfully directed by Richard Attenborough, featured a chilling, career-defining performance by Anthony Hopkins as a deteriorating ventriloquist whose life and mind are violently unraveled by his foul-mouthed, malevolent dummy, Fats. By combining the twisted puppet-master dynamics of the original story with Raimi’s legendary flair for kinetic, unsettling horror and Swift and Shannon’s sharp storytelling, this modern reimagining promises to deliver a deeply unsettling, claustrophobic nightmare for a new generation.

Netflix’s upcoming Las Vegas-set drama series, The Roman, has officially locked in its heavy-hitting main cast. Joining the previously announced Oscar Isaac, who headlines the series as Robert “Bobby Red” Redman, a powerful and ambitious casino mogul looking to aggressively expand his Sin City empire, are Betty Gilpin, Alec Baldwin, and David Costabile. Gilpin is set to play Marla Blake, Bobby’s brilliantly sharp and highly connected attorney wife, while Baldwin steps into the role of Paul “Primo” Clark, Bobby’s seasoned mentor. Rounding out the powerhouse ensemble is Costabile, who will portray Bill Saverick, a formidable and ruthless rival casino operator determined to stand in the way of Redman’s grand expansion plans, setting the stage for a high-stakes corporate and personal battle on the Vegas Strip.

The post-apocalyptic wasteland is about to get a major dose of star power, as Breaking Bad alum Aaron Paul has officially signed on for the highly anticipated third season of Fallout. While Amazon is keeping his specific character details locked tight in a vault, the casting marks an exciting reunion for the actor and the series’ creators, Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan, who previously collaborated during the final season of HBO’s Westworld. Given Paul’s proven track record with intense, character-driven sci-fi and drama, his addition to the ensemble adds immense prestige to the video game adaptation, leaving fans eagerly speculating whether he will be playing a rugged wasteland survivor, a high-ranking Brotherhood of Steel member, or perhaps an enigmatic new vault dweller.
