Star City Enters Orbit

Star City is shaping up to be one of the most intriguing sci-fi TV drops of 2026, especially if you like your space drama with a darker, more political edge. Spinning out of For All Mankind, the show flips the perspective entirely, diving into an alternate history where the Soviet Union beats the United States to the Moon. Instead of NASA heroes, we follow cosmonauts, engineers, and intelligence figures working inside the highly secretive Soviet space programme, all under the shadow of Cold War tension.

The tone leans more thriller than traditional sci-fi, blending espionage, paranoia, and high-stakes ambition. With a cast that includes Rhys Ifans and Anna Maxwell Martin, and the creative team behind For All Mankind returning, it’s being positioned as a more intense, character-driven companion piece rather than a direct continuation. Expect shifting loyalties, political pressure, and the constant sense that something bigger is happening behind closed doors.

Star City premieres on 29 May 2026, launching with two episodes before moving to a weekly Friday release schedule through to July. Like its predecessor, it will stream exclusively on Apple TV+. With For All Mankind drawing to a close Star City should continue the alternate-history storytelling with a grounded, suspenseful feel, and looks like one well worth adding to your watchlist.
