New Bites! Crooked Cops, Desparate De Armas and Frontier Fury
Brad Pitt is set to headline the survival thriller Heart of the Beast, marking a reunion with director David Ayer after their collaboration on Fury. The film follows a former Special Forces soldier who survives a devastating accident only to find himself stranded in the unforgiving Alaskan wilderness. With just a highly trained German Shepherd, once a combat dog, by his side, the story leans into a tense, character-driven fight for survival against extreme isolation, predatory wildlife, and the brutal environment.

Backed by Paramount Pictures, Heart of the Beast continues to build quiet momentum, though details around its supporting cast and production timeline remain under wraps as of now. The project fits squarely within Pitt’s recent run of physically grounded, performance-led roles, while Ayer returns to grittier terrain after a stretch of varied projects. With its stripped-back premise and man-versus-nature intensity, the film is already drawing comparisons to survival classics, though its success will likely hinge on the chemistry between its two central survivors: man and dog.
A TV adaptation of Cop Land is officially in the works, with original writer-director James Mangold returning to the fold. Mangold is set to executive-produce, co-write, and direct the series, teaming up with Robert Levine, co-creator of The Old Man. The project aims to expand on the morally murky world of the 1997 crime drama, which starred Sylvester Stallone, Ray Liotta, Harvey Keitel and Robert DeNiro, about a small-town New Jersey sheriff caught in a dangerous web of corruption tied to rogue NYPD officers living across the river.

Recent updates suggest the series is being positioned as a character-driven crime saga, with early development focusing on broadening the ensemble and digging deeper into the systemic corruption hinted at in the original film. While casting details and a release window remain under wraps, the involvement of Mangold has sparked cautious optimism, especially given his recent projects like Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. If it sticks the landing, this small-screen take on Cop Land could evolve into a gritty, long-form exploration of power, loyalty, and blurred lines between law and crime.
Apple TV+ thriller Safe Houses is beefing up its cast with David Lyons and Tobias Menzies joining leads Ana de Armas and Jennifer Connelly. Set against the backdrop of Madrid, the series kicks off with the assassination of a high-ranking CIA officer (Menzies), sparking a tense, globe-spanning mystery.

De Armas plays a fugitive agent accused of the killing, while Connelly takes on the role of the officer’s widow, who begins digging into the truth behind his death. Lyons steps in as Kevin Garvey, a special ops CIA agent caught up in the unfolding conspiracy. The series comes from Gideon Raff, best known for co-creating Homeland and its Israeli counterpart Prisoners of War, suggesting a tense, character-driven espionage drama is on the way.
