A new Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie and TV series!

What a time to be alive! We have had terrrific TV shows of some of the mosts daring and notorious classic horror films over the years, The Evil Dead, The Exorcist, Psycho and mosst recently Alien.

Get ready, horror fans because the legendary Texas Chainsaw Massacre is heading to television, and it’s landing at the powerhouse home of A24. Deadline confirms that A24 has emerged victorious in a months-long, intense bidding war for the franchise’s film and television rights.

This new stage in the Texas Chainsaw franchise it to be written and Directed by the JT Mollner (Strange Darling + writer of The Long Walk) with Top Gun 2 and The Running Man’s Glen Powell executive producing alongside Dan Cohen via their production company Barnstorm.

JT Mollner is fully committed to the TV series with a feature film is also rumbling into development this is still in very early development with still a ways to go in the roadmap. Mollner said “I’m not interested in remaking perfect films… the original Texas Chain Saw Massacre is a perfect film.” He sees the TV series as a “fresh way in” and a way to “honour the existing folklore,” adding that A24 is the “perfect” partner for this vision.

The most recent outing of Leatherface and his favourite portable handheld saw was Netflix’s Texas Chainsaw Massacre back in 2022 that didn’t quite hit the mark.
