New Bites: Grinch, Bigfoot and The apocalypse will be televised!
More than 25 years after The Grinch (aka How the Grinch Stole Christmas) became a holiday favourite, Universal is reportedly moving forward with a sequel to Ron Howard’s live-action adaptation. While the project remains in the early stages of development, the biggest piece of news is that Jim Carrey is currently in talks to reprise his iconic role as the green Christmas-hating curmudgeon. Ron Howard is also said to be in discussions to return to the director’s chair.

Script duties are being handled by Alec Berg, Jeff Schaffer, and David Mandel, a trio well known for their comedy writing credentials. At this stage, plot details are being kept firmly under wraps, leaving fans to speculate about where the story could take the Grinch next. If the key creative team can be reunited, the sequel could generate significant interest from audiences who grew up with the 2000 film and continue to revisit it every holiday season.
Fans of Matt Dinniman’s wildly popular Dungeon Crawler Carl novels have reason to celebrate, as Peacock has officially given a series order to an adaptation of the bestselling book franchise. The project will bring the beloved sci-fi fantasy adventure to television, with Dinniman serving as an executive producer alongside Seth MacFarlane’s Fuzzy Door Productions. The series is being written by Chris Yost, whose credits include work across comic books, film, and television.

The story follows Carl, a Coast Guard veteran whose life is turned upside down when an alien invasion destroys much of humanity. Survivors are forced into a deadly intergalactic reality show known as Dungeon Crawler World: Earth, where contestants must battle through increasingly dangerous levels for the entertainment of a galactic audience. Combining dark humour, action, horror, and gaming culture, the books have developed a passionate fanbase, making this one of the most anticipated genre adaptations currently in development.
A new Bigfoot-themed comedy horror film is stomping into production, with comedy veterans Chris Elliott and Michael Ian Black set to headline Bad Day for Bigfoot. Joining them are Sara Tomko, Ashley Rae Spillers, Brian McGuire, and Kyle D. King. The film will be directed by Zach Green and Devin O’Rourke, who are aiming to blend cryptid folklore, supernatural horror, and offbeat comedy into one chaotic package.

The story centres on a group involved in a Bigfoot hoax that spirals completely out of control when they find themselves operating in a genuine Sasquatch hotspot. What begins as a scheme quickly turns into a fight for survival as hoaxers, investigators, and curious outsiders are confronted by forces they never expected to encounter. With its mix of creature-feature thrills and comedic talent in front of the camera, Bad Day for Bigfoot sounds like it could become a fun addition to the growing catalogue of modern cryptid movies.
