Scuba diver exploring plane wreckage
Not much is know about this image of a scuba diver face to face with the wreck of a plane. The aircraft is said to be a twin-engine propeller transport, very likely a Douglas DC-3/C-47 Skytrain or a closely related type based on the shape of the nose, cockpit windows, and engine nacelle. The image is almost certainly a modern underwater photograph converted to black and white, rather than a vintage photograph as diver’s equipment looks contemporary. There is a faint photographer’s watermark in the lower-left corner, but the resolution is too low for me to read it reliably.
I wasn’t able to verify the exact original source from the image alone. However, similar versions of this photograph have circulated online for years in diving and aviation groups, often without attribution. In discussions about the image, several people have suggested it was taken around 2015 and that a colour version also exists. The identity of the scuba diver is unknown.

For what it’s worth, Gemma, via Google Lens says… This is a wreck of a Douglas C-47 Dakota airplane located off the coast of Kas, Turkey. The plane was deliberately sunk on July 1, 2009, to serve as an artificial reef and diving attraction. It sits upright on the sandy bottom at depths between 17 and 26 meters. The aircraft remains remarkably intact, with engines, wings and landing gear still in place.
