News Bites: Bacon Butcher, Motorcycle Maniac and Yet Another Yeti!
Following his directorial success with last year’s hit The Conjuring: Last Rites, Michael Chaves is set to helm Netflix’s upcoming survival horror creature feature, Yeti (not to be confused with another film ready to pounce called Yeti.)
The film stars Chris Pine (Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves) as a father and Iona Bell (The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping) as his daughter, alongside Ray Winstone (Damsel) and Sofia Boutella (The Mummy).
Set in the remote Alps, an avalanche has unearthed something ancient from the glacial ice. Trapped with no chance of rescue, Pine’s character and his daughter must fight for their lives against a terrifying, snow-blending predator.

Peter Gaffney (Aaahh!!! Real Monsters) and Sean Tretta (12 Monkeys) wrote the screenplay. Erik Feig and Jessica Switch, alongside Dan Kagan, are producing, with Pine and Hans Ritter serving as executive producers.
Originally developed at Sony Pictures, the project shifted to Netflix and has already commenced production in Budapest, Hungary.
Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick step behind the camera to co-direct the meta horror-comedy Family Movie, in which they also star alongside their real-life children, Sosie Bacon (Smile) and Travis Bacon.
The film is set to premiere at the SXSW festival in Austin, with new images recently revealed ahead of its debut. Written by Dan Beers (Premature), the story centers on a struggling filmmaking family whose attempt to shoot a low-budget horror film spirals into chaos when a real dead body appears on set.
Bacon plays Jack Smith, a washed-up indie horror director determined to make one last movie despite mounting financial pressure. His wife and longtime leading lady, Ellen (Sedgwick), stands by him, while their daughter Ula (Sosie Bacon) secretly plans to leave the production after landing a TV role. Meanwhile, their son Trent (Travis Bacon), a musician working as the film’s boom operator, dreams of becoming an MMA fighter. As the family rallies together to finish what could be Jack’s final film, the production takes a dark turn when they discover Ellen may have more in common with the slasher villains in their movies than anyone suspected. Sedgwick admitted she was surprised when their children agreed to join the project, recalling that she nervously pitched the idea assuming they would refuse, only to be stunned when they enthusiastically said yes.

The cast also includes Liza Koshy, John Carroll Lynch, Jackie Earle Haley, Andrea Savage, Austin Amelio, and Scoot McNairy. Bacon, Sedgwick, Sosie Bacon, and Travis Bacon serve as producers alongside Vince Jolivette, Casey Durant, Greg Lauritano, and Russell Wayne Groves.
Sounds a little like the recent Anaconda, with Jack Black and Paul Rudd. With any luck it will much better with Bacon and Sedgwick calling the shots.
Get ready for a high-octane blend of Italian style and gritty revenge. Uncork’d Entertainment is set to unleash Death Cycle on Digital today, March 10, promising a cinematic experience that bridges the gap between Quentin Tarantino’s Death Proof and the neon-soaked aesthetics of classic giallo cinema.
Directed by Gabriel Carrer (For the Sake of Vicious) and written by Dave McLeod, the film follows a woman grappling with the sudden, violent loss of her sister. Her path crosses with a mysterious man determined to track down a “motorcycle maniac” responsible for a string of gruesome murders.
Kristen Kaster and Matt Daciw star alongside Matthew Ninaber (Psycho Goreman,) James Fler (For the Sake of Vicious,) Sasha Ormond, Justin Bott, and Wes Hill.
Death Cycle premiered at FrightFest London with Keith Leopard, President of Uncork’d Entertainment saying.
“Gabriel Carrer has crafted a sharp, uncompromising thriller with Death Cycle, a film that masterfully blends giallo style with modern slasher brutality.”
Resurrecting the stylish visuals of classic Giallo and a focus on brutality, Death Cycle looks to be a must-watch for fans of hyper-stylised horror.
