Day of the Dead Rises! 40th Anniversary 4K Edition
Horror fans and collectors have something special to look forward to this summer, as Scream Factory has announced a brand-new 40th Anniversary Edition of Day of the Dead, arriving on 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray this June. Celebrating four decades of George A. Romero’s bleak and uncompromising zombie classic, this definitive release brings the film back to life with a fresh 4K restoration sourced from the interpositive, presented in both Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos for the best home viewing experience ever.
Originally released in 1985, Day of the Dead remains one of Romero’s most nihilistic entries in his iconic zombie trilogy. Set within the claustrophobic confines of an underground missile silo, the film follows a fractured group of scientists and soldiers desperately attempting to understand and control the undead apocalypse raging above them. As tensions rise and hope dwindles, Romero crafts a grim portrait of humanity on the brink.

This 40th Anniversary Edition is a comprehensive four-disc set, designed with fans in mind. Alongside the 4K UHD and standard Blu-ray presentations of the feature, the collection also includes a dedicated Blu-ray housing the feature-length documentary World’s End: The Legacy of Day of the Dead, as well as an additional disc packed with extensive special features. The restoration showcases the film in Dolby Vision HDR, while the upgraded Dolby Atmos audio track promises a more immersive and dynamic soundscape.
