A Teasing on Oak Street
The first teaser for J.J. Abrams’ upcoming dinosaur thriller has finally landed, and it brings with it a newly revealed title: The End of Oak Street (previously known as Flowervale Street). The film centres on a suburban neighbourhood that is abruptly torn from reality by a mysterious cosmic event, transporting an entire street, and its residents, into an unknown time or dimension. What awaits them is far from ordinary, as the familiar comforts of suburbia are replaced by a dangerous world where dinosaurs roam freely. While the teaser and official synopsis keep many details under wraps, they’re packed with subtle hints and cryptic imagery, echoing the intrigue and puzzle-box storytelling often associated with Abrams’ past projects.

At the heart of the story is the Platt family, who must rely on one another to survive as they navigate this strange and hostile new environment. The film boasts a strong cast led by Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor, alongside Maisy Stella and Christian Convery, with David Robert Mitchell writing and directing.
Although its mysterious marketing and Abrams’ involvement have led to comparisons with the Cloverfield franchise, and even speculation that it might be a hidden sequel, The End of Oak Street has been confirmed as a standalone story, unconnected to that universe.
