Tales from the Crypt to Stream On Shudder Next Month!
It’s halfway to Halloween, and Shudder is going all-in on horror nostalgia with the long-awaited streaming debut of all seven uncensored seasons of Tales From the Crypt. Hosted by the wisecracking Crypt Keeper (voiced by John Kassir), the cult ’90s anthology will begin rolling out on May 1, with new seasons arriving weekly every Friday through June 12. The announcement was made at the Overlook Film Festival, where Kassir also unveiled a brand-new teaser and poster for the series.

Inspired by the infamous 1950s EC Comics, Tales From the Crypt became a defining genre staple thanks to its blend of dark humour, graphic gore, and twisted morality tales where bad behavior meets grisly consequences. The original HBO run featured an impressive roster of A-list talent both in front of and behind the camera, including Tim Roth, Brad Pitt, Demi Moore, Timothy Dalton, Michael J. Fox, Patricia Arquette, Robert Zemeckis, Teri Garr, Whoopi Goldberg and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Its long absence from streaming has been due to complicated rights issues, making this Shudder debut, enabled by Dark Castle Entertainment and rights holders including Lauren Shuler Donner and Walter Hill, a major moment for horror fans. With any luck, this revival will also pave the way for a long-overdue Blu-ray release, giving fans the chance to finally upgrade those prized DVD box sets they have clung to over the years.
