New Splatstick Comedy Over Your Dead Body gets Trailer

Jason Segel and Samara Weaving put a savage spin on the idea of a “toxic relationship” in the red-band trailer for Over Your Dead Body, a gory action-comedy thriller that sees the pair trying to kill each other while fending off a group of deadly intruders. A remake of the 2021 Norwegian film The Trip, the film arrives in theaters on April 24 via Independent Film Company.

The story follows miserable couple Dan and Lisa, who retreat to a remote cabin in a last-ditch attempt to repair their marriage, each secretly planning to murder the other! Their carefully laid schemes quickly spiral out of control when a dangerous group of outsiders crashes their getaway with violent intentions of their own. What begins as a twisted game of cat-and-mouse soon erupts into full-blown chaos, forcing the couple to decide whether to save their relationship, or simply survive it.

Directed by Jorma Taccone (MacGruber) and written by Nick Kocher and Brian McElhaney, the film boasts a strong supporting cast including Timothy Olyphant, Paul Guilfoyle, Keith Jardine, and Juliette Lewis. The film recently premiered at SXSW, where it won the Audience Award. Bloody Disgusting journo Meagan Navarro praised it as “one of the funniest films of the year,” noting it’s also among the bloodiest.
