Ultra-HD Underwater Terror with DeepStar Six
Get ready to hold your breath. One of the late 80s’ most claustrophobic creature features is finally getting the high-end treatment it deserves.
On June 8th, StudioCanal UK is officially adding the 1989 aquatic horror hit DeepStar Six to their prestigious Cult Classics Collection. For the first time, fans can experience the crushing pressure of the deep sea in a stunning 4K restoration, alongside a packed Blu-ray release.
Directed by Sean S. Cunningham (Friday the 13th), DeepStar Six follows a crew of U.S. Navy engineers and scientists tasked with establishing a secret underwater missile platform. Their mission takes a catastrophic turn when they use explosives to clear a cavern, inadvertently breaching a prehistoric ecosystem and awakening a massive, predatory arthropod. As the creature begins a relentless assault on the facility, the structural integrity of the base fails, leading to a desperate race against time. Led by Captain Laidlaw (Taurean Blacque) and centered on the survival of lovers Collins (Nancy Everhard) and McBride (Greg Evigan), the increasingly fractured crew must battle mechanical failures, decompression sickness, and a bloodthirsty monster that is picking them off one by one in the dark, flooded corridors.

There is a god tier B-Movie cast. With Evigan and Everhard joined by Taurean Blacque, Miguel Ferrer, Nia Peeples, Cindy Pickett, Marius Weyers and the very excellent Matt McCoy.
This isn’t just a simple re-release. StudioCanal has gone back to the source to ensure this cult favorite looks better than it did in theaters thirty-five years ago.
