Get hooked with Thrash!
Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the… living room? Netflix has just unleashed the official trailer for Thrash (formerly titled Shiver), and it’s about time, there hasn’t been a killer Shark movie in at least week.
Forget waiting for the heat of July, this shark-infested thriller is jumping the gun on summer and streaming worldwide on April 10th, 2026.
What happens when a Category 5 hurricane meets the ocean’s apex predators? You get a storm surge that brings the food chain directly into your kitchen.

In the same vein as survival hits like Crawl and Bait, Thrash follows the residents of a decimated coastal town as they navigate a landscape of torrential rain, floating debris, and very hungry fishies. The tagline, however, it a little uninspired:
“First comes the flood, then comes the frenzy.”
The film, however, is the latest brainchild of groovy Tommy Wirkola, the Norwegian director who has mastered dished out a few hits of late like Dead Snow, Violent Night, and Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters. Wirkola isn’t just looking for cheap thrills, “this time it’s personal,” he’s tapping into a childhood obsession.
“I spent a lot of my childhood obsessing over sharks… Fast forward to a world going off its rails when it comes to global warming and flash floods, and it dawned on me that this could be a great setting-off point for a movie.” Tommy Wirkola

The project is backed by producer Adam McKay, who notes that while the film is an edge-of-your-seat ride, the core concept isn’t as far-fetched as one might think. With climate change shifting marine patterns, the idea of sharks in unconventional places is, scarily enough, not entirely implausible.
Netflix has assembled an interesting cast to face the fins, Phoebe Dynevor (Bridgerton,) Whitney Peak (Gossip Girl,) Djimon Hounsou (Gladiator, A Quiet Place: Day One,) Matt Nable, Andrew Lees, and Alyla Browne
