Hammer’s The Abominable Snowman Gets a Stunning New 4K
Hammer Films is heading back into the frozen wilderness with a brand-new 4K restoration of its 1957 adventure horror classic The Abominable Snowman, and a newly released trailer gives fans their first look at this beautifully restored version of one of the studio’s most atmospheric chillers.

Nearly 70 years after its original release, The Abominable Snowman remains one of Hammer’s most fascinating genre experiments. Less concerned with monster mayhem and more interested in mystery, atmosphere, and the dangers of human ambition, the film reunited Quatermass creator Nigel Kneale with director Val Guest for another intelligent slice of science-fiction horror.

The story follows Dr. John Rollason (Peter Cushing), a scientist conducting research in the Himalayas while staying at a remote monastery. His peaceful expedition takes a dramatic turn when an American team led by Tom Friend (Forrest Tucker) arrives with very different intentions. While Rollason seeks knowledge and understanding, Friend sees the legendary Yeti as a potential prize — something to capture, exploit, and profit from.
Hammer describes the restoration as “The definitive version of a film that has deserved one for decades.”
